In 2015 I joined a Scripture Memory Team. This year I am following suit by joining the SSMT2017. Here’s a little explanation of what it is and why I am joining in:
We call this a Scripture memory “team” because that’s exactly what we are. We cheer each other on, hold each other accountable, and urge one another to make it to the goal – 24 verses systematically memorized in 12 months – through a process that requires significant practice.
Very often you will see me refer to SSMT. Just so nobody’s confused from the start, that is an abbreviation for “Siesta Scripture Memory Team.”

SSMT2017
Without further ado, here are my verses for January 2017:
#1: ISA 60:22 EXB
“I am the Lord, and ·when it is [ in its] time, I will ·make these things happen quickly [hasten it].”
The “these things” are pretty impressive. Click here to read the full context. For me personally, these things refer to the promises of God, His hand, and faithfulness in my life.
#2: 2 TIM 1:7 ESV
For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.
