I am sitting next to Kobus’ hospital bed typing away while he is having a little snooze. The year sure has started with a bang, hasn’t it!
For years we have suspected Kobus had an ulcer- he has even been treated for it a couple of times – orally. The GP oftern said he needed to return to his rooms so that he could treat/ confirm the ulcer etc . But who really ever has/ makes the time for these kinds of things.
Kobus attended a goat and sheep AI course in Bloemfontein in last week and returned hom with terrible abdomenal pain and worrisome diarea. We made the doctors room our first and in the end only stop. The GP had him on a drip as soon as he finished his consultation. And after a call or two confirmed that Kobus needed to make his way to the Wilgers Life Hospital immediately.
2 Days, a gastroscope and a sonar later – we are still in the surgical ward.
The doctor has confirmed that DH has a hernia, gastric infection and an ulcer on the way. He will probably make a turn later this afternoon with feedback from the sonar.
